Eunice’s interest in hearing awareness arises from having grown up with hearing loss, hearing too many people complain about their hearing and being an active member of the hard of hearing (HoH) community. Initially Eunice became involved in the Hard of Hearing community to learn about her hearing loss and how to manage it. She quickly learned that despite growing up with hearing loss she had lots to learn and she enjoys sharing her experience with others. This lead her to pursue a career as a Hearing Instrument Specialist. Eunice is a past program coordinator for Canadian Hard of Hearing Association -Calgary (CHHA-C), current Canadian Hard of Hearing Association (CHHA) National member, volunteer/ member of the Calgary Cochlear Support group, and Peer to Hear Mentor at Deaf & Hear Alberta. Eunice enjoys learning about the ever evolving communications technology. Her other activities include exploring dog parks with her husband and miniature schnauzer Adicus, attending Crossfit classes and going on summer hikes. Eunice’s first language is Spanish and she continues to maintain the ASL she learned at DHA.
